Introducing Our New Midget Head Coach: Shayne G. O'Donnell

The Saint-Lazare Stallions are proud to welcome a passionate and experienced leader to our program as we introduce our new Midget Head Coach, Shayne G. O'Donnell.

With a lifelong connection to the game, Shayne began his football journey at a young age with the Western Patriotes association. Over nine years as a player, he developed his skills on both sides of the ball as well as on special teams—building a strong, well-rounded understanding of the game.

From Player to Leader

Head Coach - Shayne

Following his playing career, Shayne transitioned seamlessly into coaching, dedicating another nine years to the Patriotes organization. During that time, he worked his way through every level—from Atom to Midget—gaining valuable experience in a variety of roles, including position coach and Head Coach.

This journey has shaped not only his football knowledge but also his philosophy on leadership, development, and team culture.

A Philosophy Built on Fundamentals

At the core of Shayne’s coaching approach is a strong emphasis on fundamentals—specifically blocking and tackling.

He believes that no team can succeed without mastering these essentials. From a defensive perspective, he places a major focus on tackling and creating turnovers:

Offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships.”

By focusing on the small details and executing consistently, his teams are built to compete at a high level. Players can expect a culture rooted in:

  • High effort

  • Discipline

  • Accountability

  • Team-first mentality

Building More Than Just Players

Beyond the X’s and O’s, Shayne’s mission is to turn a group of individuals into a true football family.

He is committed to creating an environment where athletes play for something bigger than themselves—where trust, support, and unity drive success both on and off the field. Leading by example is a core value, and he ensures that every player knows their coach stands behind them.

"As a leader, I will lead by example, and it's my promise that my players will never have to second guess if I have their back."

A Passion for the Game

Football has played a major role in shaping Shayne’s life—bringing friendships, mentorship, and unforgettable experiences. While he values every aspect of the sport, coaching has become his greatest passion.

For him, the most rewarding part is passing on knowledge, helping athletes grow, and watching them fall in love with the game—just as he did.

Looking Ahead with the Stallions

Shayne joins the Saint-Lazare Stallions with excitement and enthusiasm, having already heard incredible things about the organization—from its dedicated coaches and supportive families to its committed athletes.

As we continue to build on our strong culture and tradition of success, we are confident that his leadership will have a lasting impact on our Midget program.

Welcome to the Stallions family, Shayne—One Herd.
